We know offering a large collection of different types of Lash Extensions can seem daunting at first. Picking the type of extensions best suited for yourself and your clients may be confusing at first, and you do not want to make a bad investment. You may be wondering, which lash thickness should I pick? What curls should I use? Is it safe to use any lash length on all clients? Do not fret. We have made sure to guide you through the choices so you can make the best decision for you when picking your eyelash extensions.
Is there a huge difference between these lashes? In short, yes. Depending on the finish you and your client desire for the final result, these lashes can offer a huge difference and a very specific final look. Our Mayfair collection is stunning in its bold, dramatic and shiny finish. While our Chelsea range will give your clients a very sultry, semi-matte soft finish.
While this may seem like a confusing part of the process, picking your lash thickness is actually a lot easier than it may seem. Our collection of lashes carries specific thicknesses for Volume Lashes and specific thicknesses for Classic Lashes.
Classic Lashes provide a more natural look for clients, they give a little bit of extra thickness compared to the natural lash, but the over all look is more subtle, elongated and refreshing. Classic Lashes is the process of applying individual lash extensions to every single natural lash.
Classic Lashes range from 0.10 up to 0.20 in thickness.
Flat Lashes are the gifts that will keep on giving. Flat lashes are similar to Classic lashes but can help clients with short, thin lashes. These lashes will give the desired drama but they are not as heavy as 0.18 or 0.20 Classic lashes. Flat Lashes are lightweight, they weigh about half of that of a Classic lash. For example, 0.20 Flat Lash is about the same weight as a 0.12 Classic Lash but it will give a thicker lash line due to their flat base. The best part is, Flat Lashes are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.15 to 0.25 so you can create any desired look with half the lash weight.
Volume lashes range from 0.03 up to 0.07, depending on the finishing look you are trying to achieve, will determine the thickness you choose. Volume Lashes are extensions stuck together to form a fan, these lashes are two or more lashes which create a fan ready to be attached to an individual natural lash. This is where the 'volume' comes from. We refer to fans as 'D' for example 2D is two eyelash extensions fanned together, 8D is eight lash extensions, and so on. We’ve written a separate blog post explaining which thickness and ‘D’ to use and when, so be sure to have a little read for a more in depth breakdown.
Countless numbers of Lash Curls have been made, but only a select few have stood the test of time and are for this reason some of the favourites used by Lash Techs. The most popular and commonly used are C, CC and D curls. These curls are used on most clients.
The general rule when it comes to lash lengths is not to go more than 2mm extra to that of the client's natural lash. It is also good to remember that you do not have to go longer than the natural lashes at all. Sometimes it's nice to give a fuller, fluffier look by using shorter lashes in the lash set.
However, when creating spikes for Kim K lash sets or other styles of wispy lashes, breaking this rule is okay - having a few extensions that are longer can be safe, after all it is the wispy effect you're going for.
