YOUR GLUE IS CAUSING BAD RETENTION? IT’S A MYTH!

Are you still looking for the best lash glue? Well, look no further.

Every day we hear hundreds of lash technicians complaining about their lash glues. The truth is, in most cases of poor lash retention, it is nothing to do with the brand or type of the eyelash adhesive. Most of the retention problems are caused by incorrect usage or incorrect storage of lash glue.

We’ve rounded up our top 5 tips to help you look after your glue correctly and get the most out of it!

TIP 1 - DON’T OVERSTOCK YOUR GLUE!

We understand that it’s probably easier for most of you to do one big order from your eyelash supplier once every 6 months, but this might be a problem for your glue. The shelf life of an unopened glue is up to 6 months. If you buy 4-5 bottles at the same time, the last 2 bottles that you'll open will probably be out of date by the time you get to use them.

Of course you know better than anyone how quickly you use your glues, so of course go by that and only ever have as much glue as you can use within 3 months!

TIP 2 - STORE YOUR UNOPENED GLUE IN COOL, DRY PLACE.

Make sure you store all unopened glues in a cool place. This could be a fridge, but be careful with this because of the obvious moisture issues. A drawer or cupboard away from windows and radiators is perfectly fine. For extra protection against humidity, we recommend storing your glue in an adhesive thermopack or an airtight container

Remember! The temperature shouldn't be just cool, it should also be consistent. Big changes in air temperature can cause condensation inside the bottle can affect the glue properties.

TIP 3 - AS SOON AS YOU'VE OPENED THE GLUE, KEEP IT IN A DRY PLACE, AWAY FROM HEAT AND HUMIDITY.

Once you have opened the glue it can start to polymerise inside of the bottle very quickly if kept in the wrong place. It's very important to keep your adhesive away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. You can use a jar of rice, aluminium package with silica gel or an airtight container to store your lash glue - just ensure that when the glue is open you never store it in the fridge!

TIP 4 - NOTE THE DATE THAT YOU OPEN YOUR GLUE.

As soon as you open your glue, make sure you write down the date it's been opened. You can write it on the last page of your appointment book or simply write it on some lash tape and stick it to the bottle. If you want your adhesive to be fresh and work at its optimum, we advise that you change it every 4-6 weeks.

TIP 5 - SHAKE IT.

Before you start for the day, and before each new drop, shake the bottle to make sure all ingredients are mixed together perfectly. An indicator of poor shaking is clear glue coming out of the bottle.

For best results, we recommend using a glue shaker.

  • No more wrist strain from manual shaking
  • 5-10 seconds mixing time VS 1-2 minutes of manual shaking, which gives you more time to lash!
  • Thoroughly mixed glue guarantees perfect retention
  • No glue stuck in the nozzle

All in all, the way you look after your glue from the time you receive it to the day the bottle is finished has a huge impact on how well it performs, and how well your lashes last as a result! Following these 5 simple steps ensure that you can always rely on your lash extensions glue!
