What Are Extreme L-Curl Lashes?

The angular curl can help balance round eyes and provide visible lift for clients with straight or downward-growing natural lashes. However, suitability should always be assessed during the client consultation, as strongly elongated styles may not flatter every eye shape.

Compared with M-Curl lashes and L-Curl lashes, Extreme L-Curl lashes have a sharper and more pronounced angle. This makes them a strong choice for clients requesting a bold, lifted or fox-eye effect.

Extreme L-Curl Lengths and Thicknesses

Compared with the approximately 100-degree angle of an L-Curl, Extreme L-Curl lashes feature a stronger angle of approximately 130 degrees. This pronounced lift can elongate the eye and help balance its appearance, particularly when longer lengths are placed towards the outer corner.

How to Use Extreme L-Curl Lashes

Extreme L-Curl lashes can be used to create a wide variety of styles. They are particularly effective for pointed Arrow, Cat-Eye and eyeliner-effect sets, but can also be incorporated as an accent curl alongside softer curls.

Begin with a thorough eyelash extension pretreatment routine. During the consultation, assess the client’s eye shape, natural lash direction and desired result before deciding where to introduce the Extreme L-Curl.

Use a lash mapping pen to draw the design on the client’s eyepatches. If necessary, carefully use eyelid tape to assist with positioning and access to the natural lashes.

For a Cat-Eye effect, begin with shorter extensions at the inner corner and gradually increase the lengths towards the outer third of the eye. Avoid placing the longest extensions on the final natural lashes, as tapering down slightly at the very outer corner can help prevent a drooping appearance.

The straight base and sharp angle of Extreme L-Curl lashes can feel different when creating handmade fans. Lash artists who are unfamiliar with the curl should practise picking up, opening and placing the fans before introducing the style during a client appointment.

Creating Wet Look Lashes with Extreme L-Curl

To create closed fans or lash spikes, apply a small amount of lash primer to the tips of the extensions while they remain on the strip. Use a Micro Fibre Brush and avoid applying excessive product.

The primer helps the tips remain together when the lashes are removed from the strip, allowing you to create defined spikes instead of open fans. Brush through any remaining lashes with a clean mascara wand before using them for conventional Volume fans.

How to Map a Wet Look Lash Set

For a Wet Look lash map, gradually increase the extension lengths from the inner corner towards the outer section of the eye. Adapt the placement to the client’s features rather than applying the same map to every eye shape.

Texture is central to this style. Begin with shorter spikes on the bottom layer of the natural lashes, then increase the spike length by approximately 1mm through the middle and top layers. This creates density through the lash line while maintaining a wispy, textured upper edge.

Mixing Extreme L-Curl with Other Lash Curls

For a smoother transition, use softer curls and shorter lengths towards the inner corner before gradually introducing Extreme L-Curl lashes towards the outer section. C-Curl lashes can work well at the beginning of the map before transitioning into stronger curls.
